Waiting on Wednesday

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, originally started by Jill at Breaking the Spine , that highlights upcoming book releases everyone is waiting on...hence the title. This week's pick is Renegade by J.A. Souders.  Here's the synopsis:

Since the age of three, sixteen-year-old Evelyn Winters has been trained to be Daughter of the People in the underwater utopia known as Elysium. Selected from hundreds of children for her ideal genes all her life she’s thought that everything was perfect; her world. Her people. The Law.

But when Gavin Hunter, a Surface Dweller, accidentally stumbles into their secluded little world, she’s forced to come to a startling realization: everything she knows is a lie. Her memories have been altered. Her mind and body aren’t under her own control. And the person she knows as Mother is a monster.

Together with Gavin she plans her escape, only to learn that her own mind is a ticking time bomb... and Mother has one last secret that will destroy them all.

OK, so the cover has a pretty model in a nice dress HOWEVER look at the murky background that looks like it's underwater? That's definitely fitting to the story :)  I've been dying to read this story for the longest time now and I'm glad that the wait is almost over.  If it helps your motivation any, I sometimes chat to the author on twitter and she told me that this is her view of Gavin in her mind:

I love YA sci fi novels and I've pre ordered this one!  Renegade is published in November, 2012 with no news of UK rights yet.

  1. It looks really interesting. I'm into Sci-Fi especially at the moment so I will add this to me TBR pile.

    My WOW:

  2. Oooh, I totally didn't consider the background. You're so right. Also, I wish I had hair like that.

  3. Thanks for commenting Annabelle :)
