Letterbox Love (#14)

As always, Letterbox Love is a weekly feature that I'm hosting on the blog and basically, the idea came out of a discussion with other UK book bloggers about the need to do a weekly meme with more of a British feel to it.  Therefore, Letterbox Love was born and the logo was lovingly designed by Dark Readers.  Letterbox Love is a way for us to share the books that come through our letterbox, galleys and e books (through our electronic letterbox) and any other bookish goodies that we want to tell you about.  Letterbox Love is intended to showcase upcoming books and build up some excitement for them as well as let you know what is available out there.  It is not about competing with other bloggers or boasting of any kind (c'mon, we're British and we don't do drama!)

Review Books

Debutantes by Cora Harrison (finished copy)
I received an ARC of this recently but this is the finished copy which looks really pretty!  Books set in the nineteen twenties are all the rage at the moment and I look forward to reading this one.

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
I have heard SO MUCH about this book that I'm looking forward to reading it as soon as I can.

Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr
I have a confession to make - I've never read a Melissa Marr book but this could potentially be my first!  I love the title and the premise looks interesting so I'll give it a go!

Thank you publishers!

Books Bought

Endlessly by Kiersten White
This is the final book in this series and whilst I now have all three books, I still haven't read them.  I know, I know *hangs head in shame*.  I do like Kiersten's sense of humour though from reading her blog posts and chatting to her on Twitter and the covers are sooooo pretty.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
I LOVED this book and my review is already up on the blog if you're interested in reading it.  I treated myself to the US hardback as I prefer the cover and everyone knows I'm a hardback girl anyway.  What I found out though when I got it, is that if you take the outer cover off, the actual book itself is pretty too (see below) and I thought you might like to see.

E-Books

Going Under by Georgia Cates (Bought)
This comes under the annoyingly titled "New Adult" category when really it's just older YA.  It sounds good and it features a bad boy trying to be good which suits me!

Pulse by Tricia Rayburn (Bought)
This is the sequel to Siren (a book I have but haven't read yet) and since it was in the Kindle sale, I thought I would get it.

Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs (Bought)
This book has been out for a while but I haven't got a copy and I've never read it.  Again, it was in the Kindle sale so I bought it.

Avoiding Commitment by K.A. Linde (Bought)
Another "New Adult" book which I thought sounded interesting.

The Wild Ones by M. Leighton (Bought)
I'm obviously on an older YA kick at the moment because here comes another one!  I've actually already read this in the past week, so look out for my review soon.

The Assassin and the Pirate Lord: A Throne of Glass Novella by Sarah J. Maas (Bought)
The Assasin and the Empire: A Throne of Glass Novella by Sarah J. Maas (Bought)
The Assassin and the Underworld: A Throne of Glass Novella by Sarah J. Maas (Bought)
The Assassin and the Desert: A Throne of Glass Novella by Sarah J. Maas (Bought)
These are all Throne of Glass novella's and since I'm reading Throne of Glass at the moment, I just know I'm going to want to read these.

Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens (Bought)
This was recommended to me by a friend and fellow book blogger who told me that it was a MUST READ.  How could I not get it after that?!  I believe there is a sequel but I'll start with this one and decide from there.

Destiny's Fire by Trisha Woolfe (Bought)
I keep hearing about this book and it's relatively inexpensive on Kindle so I finally caved and bought it.

Unveiled by Trisha Woolfe (Bought)
This is a dystopian novelette (short story) which sounds interesting and so I thought I would get that too.

Dante's Girl (The Paradise Diaries) by Courtney Cole (Bought)
I saw this recommendation on Twitter and I thought it sounded like the perfect Summer holiday read.

So, as you can see I seem to have gone on a bit of an e-book buying frenzy this week which was totally accidental!  I do like having e-books at the ready though for when the mood strikes me.  I'm still reading Throne of Glass but have read three other books in between.  I'm determined to finish TOG this week! It's not that I don't like it, I'm actually only on the first chapter, it's just that other books keep calling to me!  Don't forget to check out my post on "Authors are Rockstars" if you want to win a signed US hardback of Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood.  In the meantime, please leave me your links for Letterbox Love and I'll check them out :)  Happy reading!

  1. Some amazing books there- I prefer the US cover of Pushing the Limits as well. I also got Endlessly to read last week.
I just finished reading Throne of Glass and loved it, but I hate novellas in general (they're not a proper book!) so I'm debating whether or not I want these novellas.
    Enjoy all your new reads!

  5. Nice collection! It's so hard to choose what to read next!!
My Letterbox List this week is very short - lots of self-control in evidence (or is it just that I didn't get out to the shops...?

    1. I know and sometimes there's too much awesome on the shelves that it paralyses me. I realise that sounds a little weird haha and then I end up rebelling and just reading what I want anyway :)

  7. I've just finished Debutantes - really nice and the detail is so in depth. I love books set in the 1920's, this especially as most are normally in America. Hope you enjoy!

  9. I am so curious about The Debutantes. I haven't seen any reviews yet, and have no idea if it's going to be awesome. Now you can help me out.

I loved Pushing the Limits. Also, I had no idea the hardback looked like that under the dust jacket. THAT IS AWESOME.
