All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far...and almost doesn't make it back.
John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge -- and over....
There’s a reason I have a ton of Jennifer Echols books on the shelves but haven’t read them all yet – this is done purposefully so that every now and then when I need a Jennifer Echols fix, I can get one! I got the urge last night and pulled Going Too Far off the shelves. As always, Jennifer never fails to deliver and I loved every minute of it.
Meg is seventeen and cannot wait to get out of the backwater town she grew up in. Just before Spring break, Meg and three friends are drinking and generally messing around by the railroad when they are busted by the cops. Goodbye Spring break as their punishment is to ride around with one of the emergency services for the foreseeable and Meg gets stuck with the cop who just so happens to be someone she went to school with. AWKWARD.
From John’s job description, I was worried that he was going to be mid forties but thankfully he’s only nineteen which is much less creepy considering what I thought was going to happen. He is very much the hero and a man in uniform definitely does it for me! As for Meg, her snarkiness was very much appreciated and I enjoyed her character. There is much hostility between them at first (as you can imagine) but slowly they start to understand each other and more but can anything really happen between them?
I’m sure most people will probably have read this by now so I’m going to keep my review short and sweet. It’s Jennifer Echols, it’s awesome, go get it.

I thought John was going to be super old too, which would have drastically changed the tenor of the book. But I ended up really liking it with him at nineteen. Glad to see you enjoyed it too!
