Letterbox Love (#23)

As always, Letterbox Love is a weekly feature that I'm hosting on the blog and basically, the idea came out of a discussion with other UK book bloggers about the need to do a weekly meme with more of a British feel to it. Therefore, Letterbox Love was born and the logo was lovingly designed by Dark Readers. Letterbox Love is a way for us to share the books that come through our letterbox, galleys and e books (through our electronic letterbox) and any other bookish goodies that we want to tell you about. Letterbox Love is intended to showcase upcoming books and build up some excitement for them as well as let you know what is available out there. It is not about competing with other bloggers or boasting of any kind (c'mon, we're British and we don't do drama!)

Review Books

Seeking Crystal by Joss Stirling
This is a finished copy of book three in the Soulfinders series and this one features Xavier and is set in Venice.  I've actually already read this one and it was good.  I do enjoy this series as I love big families and hot brothers!

 Black Spring by Alison Croggon
A retelling of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights featuring witches? Yes please.  I was very amused to see this package addressed to "coven member" after a conversation on Twitter between UK book bloggers and the publicist ;)

Thank you Publishers!!!

Books Bought

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
I've heard so much about this book and since it's a fantasy featuring a kick ass female protagonist I wanted to get it!  This is the pretty US hardback.

Crown of Embers by Rae Carson
This is the sequel to The Girl of Fire and Thorns which has recently been released.  Again, so pretty.

Ten by Gretchen McNeill
When I first heard about Ten, I was immediately interested in reading the book as it sounds like a teen horror movie.  I'm very much looking forward to reading this!

When the Sea is Rising Red by Cat Hellison
I've heard a lot of good things about this fantasy novel although I'm a little scared that I might not like it.  I'm willing to give it a go though and I was intrigued enough to buy it.

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris
This sounds like a really fun read and I loved the fact that it was set in Florence, Italy (a place I've been to recently).  Also, time travel and a hot Italian guy?  YES PLEASE.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
I bought a UK paperback of the book and I'm probably going to give this to my sister some time in the future.  I'm actually hoping to get it signed as I *think* Maggie is coming back to the UK next month.

Adaptation by Malinda Lo
I've been waiting for this book for a while now as when I first heard about it, it sounded so, so interesting - full of secrets and conspiracies.  I love the cover, the title and the premise so I'm looking forward to reading this.

E-books

Eve and Adam by Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate (Bought)
Have you seen the paperback/hardback cover for this book? It's gorgeous and sadly, the kindle version has a not-so-beautiful cover in comparison.  Also, I'm a bit pissed off that the kindle version was DOUBLE the price of the paperback!  Having said all that, this book sounds fascinating and the theme is genetics - what would you do if you could design the perfect guy?

Down for the Count by Christine Bell (Bought)
This is an adult, contemporary novel that sounds AWESOME.  I love books featuring a best friend's older brother as the romantic lead and you know what? Going on honeymoon with someone who is in love with you and it's not your new husband (because you've just caught him cheating) is going to be pretty intense!  Looking forward to reading this one.

Toxic (A Denazen Novel) by Jus Accardo (Bought)
I've been meaning to start this series for the LONGEST TIME NOW and I have all the books on my kindle now so there's no excuse but time.  They all look great and Entangled is one of my favourite publishers :)

Wild Encounter by Nikki Logan (Bought)
This is an adult, contemporary romance novel set in Africa (LOVE) and it sounds like a fun, sexy read!

My Favorite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron (Bought)
A New Adult or Older YA book (as I prefer to call it) that has received some very good reviews.  It's a contemporary romance set in college and I like the sound of it.

Chasing The Skip by Janci Patterson (Bought)
I LOVE the sound of this book! It's about a girl whose Dad is a bounty hunter.  He starts hunting a teenage boy not much older than she is and she is drawn to him.  *sings* There may be trouble ahead...

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (Bought)
OK, so this is a little embarrassing.  I actually have a signed ARC and a hardback of this book but I could not be bothered to hunt for it (I was laying in bed at the time) and I really wanted to re-read it so I bought it for my kindle and didn't leave my bed until I'd finished.   On the plus side, at least I have digital versions of both of Tahereh's books now.

Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi (Bought)
I have wanted this book for The. Longest. Time. and it's no secret that I love Warner.  When I found out that it wasn't available in the UK, I very nearly had a meltdown.  I managed to get hold of it though (legally, I might add) and I've just read it.  It was so worth it and justifies EXACTLY why I love Warner.

Free Four by Veronica Roth (Bought)
This is a really short novella that was released a while ago now.  I've read it before but I wanted a digital copy.

Crux by Moira Rogers (Bought)
OK, I need to blame my friend and fellow book blogger Sarah for this one.  I read a review of one of Moira Roger's books on her blog and realised that I had to start this series (this is book one in the Arcana series) I'm looking forward to sampling Ms Roger's writing and hopefully falling in love with her work.

Moonshine (Mystic Valley) by Moira Rogers (Bought)
Let's be honest, this was free and I wanted to read something from Moira Rogers so I downloaded it from Amazon.  This is a short erotic story about an alpha male who is also a shifter.

Hurricane (Last Call #2) by Moira Rogers (Bought)
Let's be honest, this was free and I wanted to read something from Moira Rogers so I downloaded it from Amazon.  It's a short story set in a bar called The Last Call.

Wild Card (Down & Dirty #1) by Moira Rogers (Free)
Let's be honest, this was free and I wanted to read something from Moira Rogers so I downloaded it from Amazon.  It's a novella about people who turn into werewolves.

Kamikaze (Last Call #1) by Moira Rogers (Free)
Let's be honest, this was free and I wanted to read something from Moira Rogers so I downloaded it from Amazon.  I like the fact that it's a short story and so it will be a quick, sexy read.

Zola's Pride (Southern Arcana) by Moira Rogers (Free)
Let's be honest, this was free and I wanted to read something from Moira Rogers so I downloaded it from Amazon.  This is part of the Southern Arcana series set in between books two and three.

Stolen Fury (Stolen Book Series #1) by Elisabeth Naughton (Free)
I think this one sounds interesting as part of the setting is Italy and it features an archaeologist looking for relics and artifacts.  Of course, it is an adult book and there is definitely some hot romance there.

A Hidden Fire: Elemental Mysteries Book 1 by Elizabeth Hunter (Free)
This is a paranormal mystery/romance book for adults and is the first in a series.  It's set in Florence and there's a librarian.  I think it sounds interesting and it was free.

I'm thinking I might have to stop taking part in Letterbox Love as it's getting a bit embarrassing now, seeing how many books I buy in a week.  It's alerting me to the fact that I'm probably going to go broke soon, that's for sure!  Apologies for the lack of reviews lately but I've had a rough couple of weeks at work with ONE day off.  Thankfully, I've got a week off now so I can do some catching up!  Just in case you're interested, right now I'm reading Sanctum by Sarah Fine.    I hope you had a great week for books and as always, please feel free to leave your links below.
